The Kroger supermarket change has announced that it will close the U.S. Highway 82 store in Greenville on Aug. 23. The building is about 40 years old, and officials say its condition makes it no longer suitable. The company plans to help employees relocate to other Kroger facilities.

Meanwhile, the company is also voluntariy recalling certain fruit products. Peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots (a hybrid between plum and apricot) after internal tests show a type of bacteria may be in those fruits. The provider says there have been no reports of illness. However, a few Greenville consumers have told WXVT that they became ill after eating peaches that were purchased at Kroger.
