"she will pass away and we are ready and we accept that but as long as she is here on earth we are going to make her happy. That's our goal," said "Mama D," Ashlyn's grandmother

ASHLYN . . . AKA "MOO" IS A SIX YEAR OLD WHO LOVES THE COLOR PINK. . . DORA THE EXPLORER. . . .  AND LOVES TO DANCE.

"She has a rare genetic disorder. She is the third child in the world to have this mutated gene. .And when we found out the mutation of this gene the name of it is A-L-D which are her initials," said Lindsey Whitt, Ashlyn's mother.

THIS CONDITION HAS TAKEN AWAY ASHLYN'S ABILITY TO SPEAK, WALK, OR EVEN EAT WITHOUT HELP.

"With there being only 3 in the world with this and she being the oldest we gave consent for them to study her. Not poking her but to follow her as she grows so maybe it can benefit the two others," said "Aunt E," Ashlyn's Aunt.

ASHLYN'S CONDITION FORCES HER FAMILY TO TRAVEL OFTEN TO GO TO THE DOCTOR, NOT TO MENTION HER MEDICAL BILLS, AND RECENTLY HER INSURANCE STOPPED PAYING FOR AT -HOME CARE. . . SO NOW THAT IS ANOTHER OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE FOR THE FAMILY.

"Ashlyn is a twin and Hayden is in school and then she has Ryder who is 2 years old so any help would be appreciated," said "Mama D."

THE FAMILY HAS SET UP AN ACCOUNT AT GUARANTY BANK IN GREENVILLE FOR ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO HELP PAY FOR ASHLYN'S EXPENSES. . . PEOPLE CAN ALSO BRING CARDS OR LETTERS OF ENCOURAGEMENT.

"I want people out there in the community to know that just because she is a special needs child, doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with her. Her smile brightens everyone's day," said "Mama D."
